Origin: seedling derived from the cross “Lauranne” x “Glorieta”, made in 1994 at Mas de Bover (Constantí, Tarragona).
Tree vigour: medium. Its vigour is enough to maintain a good balance between production and vegetative growth.
Foliage density: dense.
Growth habit: medium-upright.
Branching density: medium-scarce..
Blooming time: very late (after “Ferragnès”). At Mas de Bover 33 days after “Desmayo Largueta
Pollination: self-fertile cultivar. Cross-pollination unneeded. Self-compatible cultivar having a good autogamous level (capable to produce in isolated conditions).
Pollinators:to foster cross-pollination (advisable practice, even for self-fertile cultivars), could be combined in the orchard with “Tarraco”, having a similar blooming date.
Blooming density: very high.
Length of blooming: medium.
Cropping regularity: good. Low alternate bearing.
“Fusicoccum” (Phomopsis amygdali Del.) tolerance: tolerant.
“Red leaf blotch”(Polystigma ochraceum Whal.) tolerance:: medium.
Harvesting season: medium (at the beginning of September).
Nut shape: cordate.
Kernel size: medium (1,3 g).
Shelling percentage: 31 %.
Double kernels: without doubles (0,3 %).
Kernel appearance: attractive. Skin smooth and clear.
Blanched kernel composition: oil: 47,9 %; protein: 24,2 %; soluble sugars: 4,1 %; total fiber: 11,2 %; water: 4,8 %.
“Marinada” is highly productive and very precocious. It flowers very late. Selffertile, showing a good autogamous level. Very easy to train and prune. Produces good kernels. It is tolerant to “fusicoccum”. Cross-pollination can be fostered using “Tarraco” as pollinator. The combination of these two varieties, both very precocious and showing medium vigour, can be useful for establishing semiintensive orchards at close spacing.
